Paul and Zack Huberty own Miikana Woodworking in Downingtown, PA. This father and son team designs and builds furniture focusing on clean lines, traditional techniques and beautiful hardwoods. Each piece of furniture is carefully handcrafted at their shop in Valentine Edge’s Mill.

Paul started the business in 2015 after spending 27 years in the healthcare industry. A graduate of Penn State University and Drexel University, he has had a love for woodworking since high school. His furniture designs are influenced by Mid Century Modern and Scandinavian furniture makers.

In late 2017, Zack Huberty joined Miikana Woodworking and quickly learned the important aspects of furniture design and handcrafted furniture. Zack graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship and owned his own digital media business focused on the motorcycle industry. In addition to furniture design and construction, Zack is responsible for the social media and digital platforms for Miikana, expanding community partnerships, and exploring collaborations with other artisans. Zack also runs Miikana Cutting Boards, a division of Miikana Woodworking that ensures that we responsibly use all of our precious hardwoods. He creates beautiful cutting boards, charcuterie boards, and home goods.

Miikana Woodworking is located in historic Chester County, Pennsylvania. We are proud to join the many Chester County furniture makers that have produced some of the finest pieces since the Revolutionary War. It is this beauty and history that keep us focused on our proud traditions and that inspire us to build the best handcrafted furniture.

Miikana Woodworking is located in Valentine Edge's Mill, built in 1784, which ran as a water-powered grist mill for 134 years. We are honored to share in the history of the mill and it frequently inspires us in our creation of furniture that will last just as long.

Custom Furniture Our design process is easy and starts with a simple conversation. We'll talk about your ideas, existing decorating themes, colors, patterns and styles. A trip to see your home (or business) and the space can be helpful, as well as reviewing pictures of furniture that you like. We will prepare some sketches and a list of materials for you to review. After a few more conversations, an estimate and expected timeline will be developed and reviewed with you. There are no fees for this step of the process and no pressure for you to move forward. Project Commitment If you decide to move forward with your custom piece, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required. Once received, detailed shop drawings will be prepared and we will once again discuss your project prior to beginning our work. Build Phase We will begin work on your piece and keep you informed of our progress with frequent communication and pictures at key steps in the process. You are always welcome to visit the shop to see your furniture as it comes to life. If we have any questions or need to make any decisions along the way, we will ask you first. Completion Your piece is now done. We will send detailed pictures to you or once again you can visit the shop to see your piece. The final payment is due prior to delivery. Guarantee & Return Policies If you purchase one of our existing pieces from the shop, we guarantee our work against defects in materials and workmanship. Because of the superior workmanship, quality materials and care that goes into the construction of each piece of our furniture, defects in materials and workmanship are rare. However, if a defect is noticed up to 90 days from the date of delivery, please contact us to determine the best method of repair. Each order will be handled on an individual basis. Our guarantee does not apply to normal wear and tear, abuse, neglect or misuse. Please contact us directly with any questions or concerns.
