Hi.
I'm Karl. I make things. Big things. Small things. Things out of wood. Things out of metal. Things out of wood and metal. Things out of molten copper. Things that appear in video and commercials. Things that my children will give to their children. And their children will sell at a garage sale 'cause that's what ungrateful great grandchildren do.
I have a workshop in historic Taylors Mill, South Carolina. That's where the name comes from. The Mill. My wife calls it Milly, my mistress. It's a fair criticism. I spend a lot of time there. Making things. And I've been doing it for over 35 years. Furniture. Cabinets. Reproductions. Restorations. Industrial. Mid Century Modern. Craftsman. Shaker. Traditional. I've lost track.
But one thing I know, styles change. Exceptional craftsmanship does not.
I love a challenge. I love hand made. I Love to design and go through the process of creating. But fair warning, I won't make anything you could expect to find at Pottery Barn or Renovation Hardware.
Not even for Milly. If she were real.
So send me a picture, a sketch, a thought, a gleam, a "kinda, sorta maybe it looks like this" and we can start.
I'm Karl. I make things. People love them. And you will too.
Testimonials
Sarah Ettinger
For Sarah's Artwork
I had a very specific request and he worked with me to get it exactly the way I wanted. This was no easy task because it had Hebrew and English parts on the custom frame I wanted. I can’t wait to give it to my husband for his first Father’s Day.
AUSTIN MCMULLEN
For AUSTIN's Picture Frame
Incredibly easy to work with. Finished project ahead of schedule and looks amazing. If you’re reading this, you should hire him.
Zachary Senter
For The Voyager
WOW is all I can say. Karl is a great man with a true girt of craftsmanship. Not only that, but he's overall just a great person with a great mindset and I can't wait to recommend him to my colleagues. THANK YOU KARL!

For Angie's Dining Table
Talented designer/woodworker! Table is beautiful and Karl used reclaimed wood from his shop. Looks beautiful in our new home and we would definitely use this designer for additional projects.

The shelves are beautiful. Really nice craftsmanship. Karl was great to work with — great communication and very considerate about timing and installation. I'd definitely work with him again.
Information
I will ship to any of the lower 48 states. As fast as you're willing to pay for. FEDEX, UPS, USPS, Old Dominion Freightlines. I have all the numbers on speed dial. And if you live within a 40 miles of Historic Taylors Mill, SC I will personally bring your creation to you, help you bring it into your house, wire it into your outlet box, or put it on your shelf. Of course I might need to re-arrange some things on your shelf. I'm picky that way. So instead of inviting me to your home you may want to spring for the shipping. Your call. Actual rates apply unless noted on each project or negotiated at the outset of a commissioned project.
None
Creating a $5000 hutch is very different than creating a $300 lamp. So at the outset of any project, I will very clearly articulate exactly what I'm going to do, exactly what I expect, exactly what you will get and when, and exactly what I will do in the unlikely event that you're not happy in the end. I've spent my entire career working with some of the most demanding personalities on this or any other planet. You will be happy. Or I will do everything humanly possible to make it so. As a general rule though, commissioned projects require a 50% deposit up front for materials. If you cancel, any money spent (receipts provided) is non refundable. If I haven't spent a dime, you get it all back. Any standard project is shipped on receipt of payment. And you have 60 days to make sure you're happy. That's a long time 60 days. 'Cause I want you to be happy. Very happy. And tell your friends. So I can make them things their great grandchildren will sell at a garage sale. Any project over $300 and under 25 pounds (that's weight not Sterling), return shipping is free. I send you a label, you print it and drop it at the appropriate location. That's fair, right?
