Custom Dolls & Doll Houses

Dollhouses here include museum-quality houses, replicas of real homes, a Vermont farmhouse lit with LEDs, a New York brownstone roombox, a Japanese dollhouse, modular dollhouses, and castle and church play sets. Miniaturists also make the furnishings, paintings and lighting that fill them, and some restore and refinish older dollhouses. On the doll side, there are rag dolls sewn from vintage or upcycled fabric, bendy wooden dolls, teddy bears, puppets, doll beds and cradles, and outfits made to fit fashion dolls and 18-inch dolls.

What sets the price

A listing's price is usually a starting point. Half of the listings here are priced between about $65 and $435, with a median near $95, and one in ten is priced at $1,500 or more. Dolls, doll clothes and accessories sit at the lower end, and full dollhouses and replicas at the top. Size, scale, the number of rooms, interior finishing, lighting and the amount of hand detail set the price of a commission.

Before you start

• Who it's for, a collector or a child, and the child's age.
• The scale, if you collect one. Many dollhouse listings here are built in 1:12 scale, one inch to the foot.
• For a replica, photos of every side of the house, and floor plans if you have them.
• For doll clothes, the doll's height and measurements.
• For a restoration, photos of the dollhouse as it is now.
