Stained Glass Skylight - De Cep En Verre

$2,300

This piece was commissioned to celebrate the birthday of the client's husband who is a sommelier. The theme of the design is "De cep en verre," from the stalk to the glass. It shows the seasons through the ripening of the grape. The sun and moon, with the flame and soaring bird kiln carved into the glass, are at the center of the design and represent the client's two children. The central blue area, the leaves and grape clusters were create using hand raked fused glass. This technique gives the glass a rich, organic look as the colors flow and swirl into each other. The outlines of the leaves were kiln carved into the back of the glass. Glass nuggets were fused onto the surface of the grape clusters for an added dimensional look. The panel was built to be installed as a sunlight in the client's home. Using the diagonal for the design elements kept it from having and obvious top or bottom. The dimensions are 36" x 35".

My name is Michelle Caron and I am the owner and artist at Caron Art Glass -now located in Salem, Oregon. I have been working with glass for over 25 years creating fused glass, stained glass and glass mosaic art work. My passion for glass germinated in the cathedrals of France, developed roots in Hawai`i and is now branching out in Oregon. Commissioning artwork is very rewarding. The result is a piece of art to which you have a uniquely personal connection. Your involvement in the process can range from a general idea of the design or purpose of the piece to an ongoing conversation as we develop a design that expresses your voice. Your satisfaction is always my primary goal. Finding the perfect gift is time well spent when you give a quality handmade item that brings joy to the person who receives it. In addition to commission work, I create ready-to-purchase boutique items each of which is unique. From fused glass sculptures that bring new energy into a space, fused glass table ware for that special occasion, to personal items for the office and library, or one of a kind jewelry. There is something for everyone - even those hard-to-buy-for friends and family.
