"The Gore Range" - Bavarian Style Grand Armoire
Constructed of eastern white and sugar pine, the massive piece was created using joinery techniques true to the period when armoires like this graced the guild halls and manor houses in places like Munich and Wurtzburg. We designed this piece to be a media center and house a large, flat screen TV for a private lodge near Beaver Creek, Colorado. The crest above the crown molding is carved by hand in a style reminiscent of original carvings that would have been created in the region, with a Colorado twist. There is a regal elk in the center, a black bear and wolf are seen off to the sides and the skyline reflects one view of the Gore Range near Beaver Creek. The rustic lodge effect is finished off with the use of a matched pair of fork horned mule deer antlers. This piece is 62" wide X 24" deep X 110" tall at the crest. Wire management cut outs and conduits, along with discreet ventilation openings are part of the original design; as are pull out, adjustable shelves and drawers for CD/DVD storage. This piece is lightly distressed and finished with low VOC stains, acrylic lacquer and polished to a warm glow using colored waxes. We would enjoy recreating this armoire, or one similar for your own mountain getaway.

While this project suffered a few setbacks in regards to time since he has never made one before the result is more than worth the money I sunk into into it. I could not be more happy with the results and I am more than eager to learn how to properly use the Jong as soon as I can. Not only did they create an amazing replica paddle for my antique butter churn, they were able to advise me in which wood would be best for the application and kept mindful that this needed to be a food-safe end product. They were communicative during the entire process, even sending photos along the way. When I received my paddle, I was surprised to find that they'd sent two! Now I can go on churning butter forever!
