Celebrate your special pet with a unique portrait! Let me employ photos of your beloved critter to create a stunning piece of art, serving as a warm remembrance, long after your pet has departed. PLEASE NOTE: You will be receiving an original hand painted portrait, not a print of a digitally produced image. "Captain": This 11" x 14" traditional portrait includes a close up capture of both owner and pet, upper body against a muted background. All portraits will be painted in acrylic, typically on canvas or gesso board. If you have something else you would like your portrait painted on, please talk to me! Most likely I can do it for you! All paintings receive a protective finish. The beauty of having a portrait painted from a photo is two fold! No travel is necessary, other than over the intranet or through mail; surprising a recipient with the finished work is a credible option! I will work from one primary photo with one primary pose. Additional photos are very welcome as they can offer wonderful clues in bringing your portrait to life but only one photo will become the subject of the painting. The quality of the photos supplied to me is of primary importance. Photos should allow me close ups with clear details of face and clothing. They should be of high resolution. They must be in focus and have contrast, with areas of shadow and light. Small blurry or out of focus images will greatly limit the quality of detail rendered in the final painting. *Please note: Prices are meant to be ballpark figures only, within the size shown. Difficulty of composition and detail rendered will be taken into consideration. Prices may vary at the discretion of the artist. Each figure added will be added at an additional cost of not less than $200.00. *Shipping and handling are not included in the price of the portrait. I will ship out of the U.S. at a price to be determined. Additional Shipping and handling prices will be added to the final payment. STEPS: 1) If having a piece done interests you, please talk to me! Together we will work out your expectations for the piece. I will request photo(s) with a digital resolution of 200 pixels per inch to me via email. Images must be clear at an 8" by 10" size. If this is not an option for you, I'd suggest mailing excellent copies of your photos to me or mailing excellent copies of them on a disk. Any original photos will be scanned upon receipt and immediately be returned to you. 2) I'll then request an initial, non-refundable sample fee of no less than $100.00. Once the initial fee is paid, and I possess the photos to be used, I will begin a rough sketch for your approval. (The initial fee will be deducted from the final payment of the work, should you approve the sketch). Sketches will be made based upon previous conversations and the photos supplied. Only minimal changes will be allowed to the sketch, without incurring an additional, non-refundable fee, which will be added into the cost of the painting. 3) I will request an initial fee of no less than half price of the total painting, $150.00 of which is absolutely non- refundable, under any circumstances. Once the initial fee is paid, and I possess the photos to be used, I will begin a rough sketch for your approval. Sketches will be made based upon previous conversations and the photos you have supplied. Only minimal changes will be allowed to the sketch, without incurring an additional, non-refundable fee, which will be added into the final cost/payment of the painting. At this point, if the customer decides to withdraw from the contract, the $150.00 non-refundable fee as well as any other fees taken from the total will be added together and the sum of all subtracted from the total payment made thus far. The remaining value will then be returned to the customer. 4.) Upon your approval of the sample, the hand painting of your original portrait begins in earnest! Please note: Paintings will be done in the order of initial deposits received. At this point in time, the full sum total of the initial deposit will be no longer refundable. 5) Once the final payment is received, your painting will be shipped! 6) You will now be the proud owner of an original Kathi Dugan painting, beautifully portraying the subject of your choice! Enjoy! Please note: All art is copyrighted. Although you will own the original painting and you may do with the original as you like, the image of the painting belongs to the artist, by law. Permission must be received in order to reproduce the image, in any fashion. If you would like copies of the painting, for any purpose, please speak to me! Thank you! ABOUT THIS PAINTING: "Captain" 11" x 14" acrylic on canvas panel What originally began as a commissioned portrait of the owner's cat, quickly became a dual portrait of both owner and feline. It was the loving husband who requested that his wife also be included. Obviously, as much as he loves his cat he also admires and cherishes his wife! The price for this painting is a little more hefty as it includes both person and pet portraits. It also combined aspects from two separate photos. PLEASE NOTE: If a professional photographer has taken the image you would like reproduced as a portrait, permission needs to be received from that photographer, if possible! Thanks!

Artist Kathi Dugan began her art career as a Decorative Finish/Mural company, "Wonders On Walls", specializing in customized art and faux finishes on walls, furniture, cabinets and floor cloths. Because "Wonders On Walls" used almost exclusively water based products, it was natural for Kathi to choose acrylic as her medium.
Since that time, Kathi has extended her business to include commissioned portraits and commissioned illustrations. Past portraits have included those of children and adults, set in traditional, realistic or whimsical, fantasy settings. Kathi has also been requested for pet and house portraits, as well as a illustrations of favorite scenic spots and visual concepts. Because Kathi uses photos as her references, physical distance is not a hindrance to job performance. If you have a question about her prices, please do not hesitate to contact her. The price of each piece is as subjective as the piece itself, usually based upon size, detail and difficulty of the request. Although the prices given are realistic ballpark figures, communication is a great way to reach an agreement viable for all parties.
All of Kathi Dugan's artwork is available as Fine Art Prints.

For Fox Chapel Fire. Dept. Portriat CommissionKathi is the best photo-to-portrait artist in the business! From just two photos she perfectly captured the personality of one of my best friends. She maintained regular, detailed communication throughout the process, and she was able to meet a rather strict deadline. I especially appreciated her expertise through the use of artistic license to create a stunning background for the portrait. The portrait was very carefully packaged and shipped. The commissioned work cost about as much as I figured it would, but I would not describe the price as a great "value" - you get what you pay for. Overall, it is clear that Kathi takes pride in her work and is dedicated to capturing the essence and personality of a person in her work rather than just copying a photo. I will definitely recommend her to others!

For Eve's paintingIt was truly a pleasure for my husband and I to work with Kathi on our project. She came to the table with so many great ideas, but she was still willing to go above and beyond to work out what exactly it was that we wanted. We were blown away by how genuine she was in our interactions and the end result of all of her hard work is absolutely beautiful. The amount of detail she put into our painting is unbelievable. Overall, we are completely satisfied with Kathi's work and would work with her again in a heartbeat!
