The unit shown is made out of pine with a clear matte finish. It is 60" wide, 28" tall, and 11" front to back. It can be made a variety of sizes…with or without brackets. Shelf supports can be either visible or unseen. In addition to stand-alone bookcases, shelves of various styles can be built into entire walls, alcoves, or rooms.

I am a woodworker. I have a small shop making furniture in a casual style. Much of it has a natural, unfinished look (although it's actually coated for protection). A lot of use of metal brackets and exposed screws. An architect friend calls it a packing-crate aesthetic.
