Reclaimed Floating Shelf

$150

This shelf was a random thought I had one day as I was staring at the mess my shop had become. I had gotten busy with projects and started to slack on my housekeeping in the shop, so I had material and tools everywhere. While I was putting away tools and trying to find places for the random pieces of leftover materials, I came up with this idea for a shelf. The wood is old growth birch salvaged from the floors of an old Jim Beam Distillery warehouse that was built in the early 1900's to store aging whiskey. The bracket is hot rolled steel flat bar that was distressed to match the look of the wood. Both wood and iron are finished with a clear sealer to highlight the natural patina and rawness of the piece.

A Builder of Custom Wood Furniture & Woodcraft. From fine furniture to functional fixtures or cabinets and shelves, all handcrafted to my clients specific needs.

I am a builder by nature, my passion for wood working started in the school wood shop but didn't get into full swing until after college when I could afford to buy myself some quality tools. I was continuously disappointed with the quality of furniture products at the typical retail stores. Even when I could find good quality, it seemed that I could never quite find exactly what I liked. This led to the realization that I could just build exactly what I wanted. I would have complete control over design and quality.

As it turns out, the pieces I designed and built sparked lots of interest. People liked the idea of being able to have me build an item that they wanted with a few customizations to suit their homes or other needs. Other people had great designs in mind and they just needed an able pair of hands (and tools) to help make their ideas become reality. And this became the basis of my woodworking business…. Making your idea become a reality in your home and life.

With your ideas and my able hands, we can create exactly what you have always wanted.
