Regulus is a magical creature. Part lion, part dragon and unique in every way. He loves stargazing, especially on cold, crisp winter nights when the sky is so clear you can see the milky way and the cold air is so sharp and invigorating. He is painted in a gorgeous cobalt ombre that fades into a pale blue. His body is speckled with bright bronze stars that make him resemble the most beautiful star strewn sky. The same bronze was used to add his other bright details too. Most of my sculptures follow the same path into being. An idea becomes a sketch, and the sketch inspires a sculpture. Regulus was different. He was formed directly in clay, without any extra planning, and he was wonderful from the start. Regulus is hand sculpted and textured from a strong, lightweight air-drying clay. After a couple coats of primer, he was ready to be painted. All his bronze details were painted one at a time with a small, fine brush, including each of the tiny stars! He is antiqued with a dark blue graphite paint. Finally, Regulus was sealed with several layers of matte varnish. His eyes have a satin varnish to add a little shine to them. The varnish I use is the best. It gives all my sculptures a soft silky feel, making them wonderful to hold. Regulus is 5 inches long, 2 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall. He is signed in bronze paint underneath.

I make odd and fantastic creatures that hail from strange lands and faraway places.
My sculptures are handmade and all one of a kind. No molds are ever used! I use ceramic, polymer and air-dry clays to make my creatures, then I glaze or paint them to get just the right look.
I also make handmade jewelry as well as acrylic paintings.
