Old World Style Dining Table And Chairs

$35,000

This is a set of dining table and 6 chairs (only 4 chairs are shown in the photos) designed for a customer who wanted an "old world" style but with my "organic approach" incorporated. We used cocobolo wood the customer had saved for many years. It turned out absolutely beautifully and the deep color of the cocobolo works well with her home's decor. The chairs' elegant organic curves embrace and support your back. Their shape makes for extended comfortable sitting. The seats of blackberry leather compliment the varied red tones in the cocobolo. The price range for this set is based on using cocobolo, a difficult wood to work with and somewhat hard to find. I would be very happy to talk with you about making a similar table, chairs or variation of these, in any hardwood with your choice of leathers or upholstery for the seats.

I have been working professionally with wood for over 30 years. A native of Montana, I have always had an interest in art and wood working. I majored in philosophy and fine art at university, started a family, worked for the railroad as a carpenter for many years then opened my shop, Timothy's Fine Woodworking in 1982.

I am especially interested in expressing movement in my furniture, as well as exploring the natural elements of the wood. Early on I was influenced by the work of Tage Frid, George Nakashima and Sam Maloof. I often incorporate the live edge of the boards into my tables, and use the natural grain and color of different woods in my designs.

In addition to studio furniture, I also make custom cabinets and other custom furniture. I enjoy working with my customers, listening to what they want, and giving my attention to every detail, from the selection of the wood to the finished design. I try to honor the spirit of the material I use, in the finished pieces.

"I hope my art that people use everyday helps them reconnect to the spirit of the natural world."
