Fire Screen Door

$3,500

This piece is a private commission. The client requested it be fashioned after a canyon that is important to them called Provo Canyon. It was to include a Trestle Bridge, the river, and a specific mountain peak. It is Fabricated of Steel, Copper and Brass, and is all natural metal colors . This Fire Screen door is intended to cover a niche in the wall where a wood burning stove has been placed. The piece is Mountain Contemporary. Open sections of expanded metal are varied with sculpted and textured mountains. Pine and Cottonwood trees, Provo River and bridge decorate the lower third. All fabricated metal sculpture is original, and I enjoy incorporating items and themes that are relevant to the setting and special to the client.

Hi there. I have been sculpting in Metal for more than half of my 40 years.
I love Metal as an art medium. It is relatively unexplored and there are only a few people dabbling in the more challenging genres. It is a validating and awful thing to try and form hard metal into natural/classical shapes and congruent themes. I do a lot of grinding and pounding, followed by a lot of laborious intricacies. Energy for it ebbs and flows, but the whole of it is quite satisfying.
You may be confident that my work on your project will always be an attempt to maximize the medium. I’ll perform in a manner that would qualify my work as being among the very best available anywhere.
