Acacia Slab Dining Table

7' long x 40" wide x 4" thick live edge wood slab Currently have three more acacia slabs in stock for sale ranging in size from 8'x32" to 12'x48" We made this custom wood slab dining table for a private client over the fall of 2012. They wanted a dining table worthy of their new home - one that would be just as comfortable for daily dinner with their son as it would be during a packed Thanksgiving feast. We designed a table that matched a bookmatched wood base in modern clean lines, with an unadulterated wood slab top. Acacia wood was chosen by the client after careful consideration of a variety of domestic and exotic species. This wood is extremely beautiful and possesses great strength and moderate hardness, medium ribbon figure, and a striking contrasting sapwood. We sourced the wood directly from a sustainable sawmill and went through a lengthy import process - having the wood shipped by ocean freight across the Pacific. Three more slabs from this shipment are in stock at our shop for immediate sale. The slab was flattened to a true flat surface on both sides - not just sanded. This gives the table a perfectly smooth surface removes any twist that was introduced during the drying process. A lengthy sanding process up to 400 grit and a 100% non-toxic hand rubbed oil finish was applied to give the table a beautiful and low-maintenance finish. We use Tried and True brand oils, which are zero-VOC and safe for children and pets. The base is a custom sawn book-matched set of acacia legs, made in house, and attached using a hidden metal bracket. The legs are more than strong enough to support the 400 pound table tipped on its end (already done). We never make a piece of woodwork that will break without extreme abuse.
