Fireplace Screens And Club Fender Benches
Handmade in New Canaan, Connecticut by Old English Fireplace Benches
Custom fire screens (~ $250) and Old English Fireplace Benches (starting at $1,850) are wonderful additions for beauty, function and safety. This screen of wrought iron with natural finish guards against sparks, plus captures/defuses direct heat and radiates it gently and safely into the living space. Fireplace benches ("club fenders") come in several models. These hug the hearth and add the extra seating and cozy conversational sections to make spacious rooms more intimate and smaller rooms more spacious. We'll finish the bench seat in your choice of leather or designer fabric to complement any room decor and design period.

Old English Fireplace Benches
We custom make the 19th century version of the iconic English club fender fireplace bench. Our benches are exceptional by virtue of their 200+ year styling and the large amount of iron we use for the bases. Plus our benches are hand forged, individually designed and sized for the intended hearth. We upholster in leather or your material. The base set upon a hardwood skirt adds an extra element of design and elegance.
A club fender fireplace bench adds extra seats without taking space, adds design and beauty to the fireplace, makes tending fires easy from a seated position, and more. It dresses up a plain mantel or compliments an expensive one. We work with professional fireplace stone masons and custom mantel makers.
Our forge can also custom make fire screens, andirons, firebacks, tools, etc. We ship nationally.
We are often asked about interior design of and around the fireplace. If you take time to provide photographs and basic measurements, we're happy to discuss design without charge.
