Rebar's Kaleidoscape At The Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive
This project was a "Social Furniture" installation for the Berkeley Art Museum in May 2013 from the creative team of Matthew Passmore and Rebar. Joona's scope of work included padding and upholstering in a polyurethane upholstery "pleather," the 27 sculptural objects provided to us by Rebar. Joona Design Playground provided engineering consultation and upholstery fabrication on this project, including devising an ingenious new application for invisible zippers. Cost below reflects only Joona Design Playground's contribution to the project, which is proprietary to Rebar and may not be duplicated.

Joona Design Playground is lead by Jeanne Henzel, who draws on her fine arts and couture design background to create artistic, finely crafted, fun, and functional interior design solutions. At Joona, our custom drapery and upholstery services feature old-world, hand-finished detailing, couture sewing, fabric painting and dyeing, fabric transformation, repair, and reweaving and boundlessly creative design. We do not use chemical flame retardants in our upholstery products, choosing to use flame retardant-free latex cushioning with a wool felt flame barrier instead.
