re.dwell, short for "reclaimed dwelling", is the combination of my architectural studies, passion for design, love of working with our hands, and desire to repurpose old materials. Each piece is unique, allowing the quality and character of the materials to help determine how it gets used. Our materials are sourced mainly from the West Michigan area. They come from old barns, homes, , factories, and other buildings that are slated to be demolished or are being renovated. We pull out as much material we can before it is destroyed, documenting each building when possible to provide a record and a story. The result is a unique new furniture piece full character and history.

My family and I currently call the vibrant city of Grand Rapids, Michigan home. I received Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Architecture from Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana where I focused on sustainable design and alternative building methods.

I spent my summers helping a friend, a skilled carpenter and craftsman, with his small deconstruction business. We dismantled old blighted structures saving the materials from the landfill for resale and repurposing. Though I had been interested in furniture making for some time, it was here learning the trade from my friend I really found a passion for it. Designing and building furniture was a perfect outlet for my creativity, desire to work with my hands, and repurposing the materials we saved.
