Spaced in an elegant manner Coopered lid (arched) with amazing figure that looks ablaze in the sun. Hand carved recess in the lid used as the lift. Notice how this was carved in relation to the sap wood on the edge Mortise tenon joinery on the stand (note: some pictures have the chest off of the stand) Hand shaped stand with plane Extruded brass hinges and brass chain Frame and panel bottom with false bottom. I create HANDMADE MODERN furniture considering sensitivity to material and time honored techniques. The process by which an object is made contributes to its meaning. My process infuses warmth to the cold sterile reputation of modernism, thus restoring the human connection.

Mediocrity needs the cold shoulder. We live in a disposable culture which detains us in an endless consumer cycle. My goal is to relieve you from this cycle with furniture that ages well revealing a faint background of your life past. to give joy and beauty.
-Philosophy
I’m an artisan, designer, craftsman. I conceive ideas, act upon my ideas through planning, and execute the plan within the boundaries of tradition and material. Wood is a living material and isn’t homogenous. Full of diversity in its color, texture, weight, smell, and even sound. I carefully select my material, preferring natural unadulterated wood that invokes honesty. I surround myself with my material to discover its nature which leads in my process. I do not force wood to fit a design, resulting in disharmony. Machines do not care, they are unaware and forceful. I work wood with acquainted relationship. As a result my furniture has an intimate quality, full of discovery, bearing my fingerprint. I approach joinery with classic time honored and proven methods. Beautiful and strong dovetails and mortise and tenon, executed precisely. Good joinery is an investment, it is honest, sound, and enduring. I traditionally hand plane or card scrape. Then use a finish to enhance the wood; typically oil, shellac, or wax. I always aim for timeless, simplistic, classical forms and proportions.

Born in Cincinnati, OH in 1980. As a child the desire to create was consuming. The love of wood arose as a young guitarist. Furniture design became enamoring after earning a fine arts and education degree from Mount St. Joseph. Studied woodworking at Haywood Professional Crafts program in Western North Carolina. Presently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.
