This live edge coffee table has an industrial, modern and rustic feel all rolled up into one! The figured Ambrosia Maple top came off of an urban reclaimed log and is packed with character. It has curl, ambrosia markings, chatoyance and a bark inclusion that goes through the entire top on one end (hole). The top has been planed flat, sanded smooth and finished in an oil and satin poly combination. The legs consist of two 1" x 2" steel bases in a u-shape design. The bases have been finished in an industrial look (low sheen black and gray) and clear-coated for protection. They also have plastic caps on bottom which allow you to adjust the height by an inch or so. This is a naturally beautiful piece of handmade furniture and sure to elicit compliments from your guests! The finished piece measures: 35 1/4" L x 22" to 27" W x 15 1/2" H. The slab of wood is approx 1.5" thick. Please contact me with any questions or to request additional pics.

Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
