Each one of my solid hardwood shelves are made from reclaimed remnants of solid slabs used in my furniture production. Already sustainably-sourced lumber, re-using these smaller pieces makes me feel good about keeping waste at a minimal. Each one features a solid slab of wood with a natural edge on the facade, eye-hooks for easy installation and two 24" strands of natural sisal rope. The wooden shelf can be rotated over to either display more of the live edge, or less. The item you are viewing is the exact one you will receive! The wood has been planed flat, sanded smooth and finished in an oil and wax combo. These are great for use in your living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom or anywhere you'd like to display something on your wall…be it candles, flowers, a vase, pictures, collectors items, incense, keepsakes, etc. This piece is made out of black walnut. The slab of wood measures 24" l x 4 1/2" avg D x 2 1/8" thick.

Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
