Reclaimed Live Edge Maple Coffee Table- Industrial Coffee Table- Large Coffee Table- Steel Legs
Feel good about purchasing and using this large live edge maple coffee table made out of reclaimed wood! This top was made out of an 11' x 6" remnant cut of maple used in construction of one of my dining tables. I took the 11' slab and cut it into three pieces and jointed them together to create this gorgeous top. The wood features natural edges, interesting figuring, ambrosia markings, black line spalting and has been kiln dried, planed flat, sanded smooth and finished in a satin poly. The naturally beautiful wooden top rests on two 2" x 2" steel u shape legs in an industrial finish. The legs have been clear coated for protection. It's a great mix of rustic, industrial and modern design. This solid coffee table would look great in any space and you'll be content in knowing you kept this wood out of the landfill! Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
