This round live edge coffee table is beautiful! The top is made from a cross-cut (aka cookie) slab of Claro Walnut. It has been planed flat, sanded smooth and finished in a low sheen matte/satin hand-rubbed oil poly. This finish not only protects the table from moisture and scratches, it also does a great job in bringing out the dark browns and warm golds while keeping a natural wood look. The center portion of the top has a drying check that's been filled in with a black tinted resin and fitted with a hand-carved Maple inlay (bowtie) to inhibit further expansion. The lighter colored bowtie in the middle adds visual interest and gives a nod to handmade artisanal craftmanship. The top is paired with a trio of raw steel hairpin legs that have been clear coated for protection. Together, the piece creates a grand display of mid-century, rustic, modern, industrial and minimalist design. It's a sharp piece and ready to ship! Measures: 22 3/8" x 22 1/4" x 18 1/2" H. The top is a solid 2 1/2" thick.

Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
