Hand Hewn Oak Fireplace Mantel With 3 Fills

$680

This fireplace mantel beam came from an old granary near Henderson, Minnesota. The building probably dated back to the late 1800s. The beam has some great character to it. The bottom and face are hand hewn following the grain. It has the great, warm brown color. The top surface has been cut to remove rot, but exposing a beautiful color with black streaks. This piece was sill beam. The notches in the face are where the floor joists rested. The few holes in the top were where the studs were mortised into place. Imagine, back in the day, they cut mortise and tenons to place in all the studs. No instant hit with a pneumatic nailer on a tiny "2×4" pine stud. We filled each of the holes with some great quality oak. It's fun to look at the end grains and count the rings. There are some really tight grains on the end of this mantel. This mantel is 6.5in Tall x 7.5in Deep x 71in Long. Our hand hewn mantels like this run $115/LF. We can cut this mantel down up to 1 foot shorter and reduce the price proportionately. We can cut down further, but we stop prorating the price at 1 foot less. This exact mantel recently sold. But we have many mantels available and probably have one relatively similar to this one.

We are a small mom-and-pop shop that works hands-on to craft tables, mantels, and countertops. We feel so very fortunate to reclaim old wood from the fading American landscape and to create wonderful pieces that can last generations. It is indeed a blessing. We work together with exceptionally talented blacksmiths who add true, hand-hammered ironwork to some already fantastic, well-crafted reclaimed wood pieces.
Farm Tables
Our artistry comes alive when we create farm tables, harvest tables, trestle tables, and even industrial base tables. This old reclaimed wood lends itself wonderfully to truly touchable beauty. With our tables, you just can’t help but touch 'em and run your hand across 'em.
Wood Countertops
As a returning trend, wood countertops are great. With flowing edges, unique colors, and interesting textures, our reclaimed wood countertops are even better than modern solid wood countertops.
Fireplace Mantels
These beam mantels are the real thing – many with ax marks from American settlers in the 1800s. There’s no “distressing” in our shop; it’s all original. We sand and finish to make each beam a thing of beauty. Our blacksmith partners can add a wonderful variety of accents to each piece.
