Hyper White Reception Desk With Reclaimed Wood Cowl

$10,000

This piece was a large L shaped reception desk created for an office in LA. The frame is made from 1.5" square steel tubing which was then skinned with 3/4" baltic birch plywood. The plywood was impregnated with resin to fill any small voids and make the end surface glassy smooth. This desk was also fotted with a reclaimed wood cowl as well as recessed LED lighting, a raised brushed aluminum front face, 3 drawers, and an included 2 gang outlet.

I'm so happy with our new, custom dining table/bar. Grey took the pictures I sent him and created a beautiful product, delivered and assembled it all while we weren't home. It was a little risky to try this for the first time, not knowing what the final product would be, but I could not be happier. I hope he will build me some shelves to match!

Great collaborator. I had a custom project done with very specific requests. He was both fully open to my ideas and requests but also was able to give professional guidance to lead us to the highest quality and functioning product.

NIGHTMARE. Please do yourself a favor and do not go with this craftsman. He made me a custom wallet that was completely different from my custom dimensions, without once consulting me on the changes. Uhm, what part of custom dont we understand here? I gave him the benefit of the doubt and allowed him to try again (my mistake for allowing him to try again). He made the second wallet, which turned out to be worse than the first one. Dimensions were correct this time, but he produced the wallet twice as thick as he said it would be. I told him that the wallet being thin is very important to me. He told me the wallet would be 1/2 inch thick, and made me a wallet that was 1 inch thick while empty. Double! We even went with expensive horse hide because its supposed to be the thinnest and he still didnt produce what he specified. He cant produce according to my specifications, or his own specifications! This is not the worst part. I asked for a plastic ID window insert. The ID window insert came apart by putting my ID in there ONCE and taking it out, no joke. Wet stringy cheap glue. Elmers glue? I dont know. Also the cheapest and thinnest plastic I've seen. Still not the worst part. The wallet……it doesnt work!!! I told him that I am not experienced in custom work (as most of us aren't) and asked for his input and suggestions to any changes that he would like to make. He had no objections or inputs to make any changes. He specifically told me the dimensions and design would work perfectly fine. The wallet does not fold over. The credit cards end up to close to each other and prevents the wallet from closing! It is completely unusable. I asked for a refund and was denied. He has the audacity to tell me that the wallet being unusable is my fault! That "its a byproduct of your design"! Why would you lie to me and tell me it will work, then blame me for it not working??? After i specifically asked for your input! Just to take my money!? For the thickness of the wallet, he comes up with the lame excuse that "the thickness is beyond our control" and depends on the number of pockets. Yet he gave me a SPECIFIC thickness measurement! He told me 1/2 inch thick! Then musters up the excuse that its "beyond my control". I was very angry, but what can I do except share my negative experience? Just use it as a paperweight now.

I have all our conversations logged. Please reach out to me if you need me to show you all the proof and our back-and-forth so you can see for yourself what an unprofessional, border line shady craftsman this is. DO NOT WORK WITH.
