The Country Bed Shop was started in 1972.
All the work from rough lumber to finish is done right here. Each piece is made to order so I can modify it to your needs. This includes setting the rail and headboard heights properly to fit your mattress, something often overlooked with today's thicker mattresses. If you don't see anything that suits you on our website I can work from a photo, sketch or book reference to make the piece that you prefer.
I joined the Bed Shop in 1992 as a young man , and over the years have taken "sabbaticals" to work in other shops/trades learning new skills but always returning to the Bed Shop to bolster our offerings. The Bed shop allows a blending of all my interests and training: art, history, design,and problem solving all being regular aspects of the job, it's never boring for me.
The small scale of our operation allows for the kind of personal interaction that makes the jobs meaningful as well.
We have had our beds featured in numerous magazines, as well as built for the film industry and some actors too.
We make more than beds as well, and I'm always looking for the next interesting and challenging project. That's what keeps us going.

Maker Policies
Shipping Policy
All items are shipped as soon as they are completed. We will contact you 2 or 3 days prior to shipment to let you know when the item will arrive. Most items are shipped via Fed-Ex freight. Air Freight is available for overseas shipments or on request.

Maker Policy
We request a 33% min deposit on all work. We make each piece to order. Each piece is warranted to be as represented. If we make an error, such as making the piece the wrong size, we will replace the item or refund your money at your option. If you have given us incorrect information, such as an incorrect dimension, we will do everything we can to correct this at current shop rate. Client cancelation will likely incur some restocking fee, dependent on how far your project has progressed at the time of cancelation. Basically, if I can still use the material for another project, we can refund you more, hopefully, it never comes to that ;)
