We are very happy with the mesquite box that Rick made for us. It has a beautiful turquoise inlay, just as we requested and the mesquite grain shows beautifully. The work was completed as scheduled and Rick kept us in the loop at every step. We feel we have gotten a handcrafted work of art for a great price. You should check out Rick's work!

Rick Hensley A Star is Born. Rick was given a piece of white pine, which was at least 100 years old. He was asked to make a coffee table. The wood had been preserved in the rafters of a garage. It had Formica on one side and paint on the other. Rick is a great communicator. After a long discussion, it was decided that he would make a table with a floating top, and base made of fur. He directed me where to find many pictures to get ideas for what I wanted. There were several e-mails and another in-person consultation. Rick is prompt answering e-mails. And, he wanted to create what I wanted. In the finished product, he rounded the ends and routed the sides of the board. Rick is friendly. He welcomes conversation and suggestions. Rick answers e-mails quickly. He is fully responsive to the customer. The table is sculpture. It is art. Rick Hensley of “Rockytop Woodworks" is a rare discovery. He is a five star artisan. D.L.

I am very happy with the curio table. Fit, finish and appearance are excellent. Rick Hensley and I communicated as needed during the project and I talked with him face to face several times. He is a skilled craftsman, nice person and one who meets his commitments.

Having built furniture myself, I went into this project with some high expectations. Rick Hensley succeeded in fulfilling those expectations. Not only was he knowledgeable, communicative, helpful, and personable, he was skillful. The finished product was beautifully done. I could hardly have been more pleased. This was a very enjoyable experience. And, a bonus - I made a friend. Five stars!

Rick was fantastic! From the very beginning he was in constant communication with me and sent pictures on a regular basis. He was able to take a sample from another piece of furniture and match the cherry wood and finish so that our end tables fit in perfectly with our other decor. We have custom built, beautiful cherry end tables that will last a life time.

I wanted to update my dining room furniture. This set belonged to my grandmother and is approximately 85 years old. I wanted to combine the hutch and buffet into one piece. I also wanted the "raw wood" finish that is so popular now. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the finished product. During the process, I told Rick that I wanted a mirror in the back, glass shelves and down lights. He happily obliged. I found Rick through a Google search which lead me to CustomMade. Luckily, he was in my area, which made the process very convenient!!! I plan to use Rick again for a custom office armoire. I am confident that he could build and create anything!!

Rick Hensley's work is phenomenal!! We started the process with designs that I described and he translated into sketches. A couple of revisions later and we were ready to go with the project. Rick was easy to contact and in synch with what I was looking for which made the design process a breeze. Then Rick started building the bookshelves and always provided weekly pictures, which was great so I could see the progress. Also, i did not ask for this, but he made the desktop from antique maple wood from 100+year old tree on the back of his property. It is so unique and gorgeous, I am thrilled he took that initiative and allowed it to become part of my home. Once complete, we scheduled a good weekend, and he brought the completed bookshelves and desk to my house and installed them with his brother's help. Unfortunately, I had to leave during the install for a commitment, but my husband was there and got to see the whole process. Rick stayed all day to make sure everything was perfect when I got home. The bookshelves and desk are so high quality, I will never ever work with anyone else on needs like this. Rick will be our go-to guy for any wood working needs. The final outcome is gorgeous and looks like it should have always been there - seamless, beautiful, pure craftsmanship. I will more than happily recommend Rick to anyone seeking a project like this, as it was a pleasure to work with him, and I already have an idea for a new project! I could not be a happier client!!

I cannot say enough good things about our first experience with CustomMade and, more importantly, with RockyTop WoodWorks. From our first contact with RockyTop, Rick was great to work with.
