Custom woodworks made from a variety of vintage reclaimed hardwoods from the Cumberland Plateau in East Tennessee and fine exotic woods from around the world.
Specializing in American Wormy Chestnut, Appalachian Framery combines simple aesthetic lines with time-honored mortise & tenon joinery to create classic works of functional art. Most of my recent works are stain-free. I'm simply letting the wood species dictate the colors and tones.
Appalachian Framery is one man in East Tennessee creating by hand.
My formal education in woodworking includes Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and Gregory Paolini Design.
My day job is wildland firefighting so in a sense my life has a strong connection to wood. Primarily using prescribed burning, I restore and maintain ecosystems throughout the South East. Managing wildfires is the other side of the job. Amongst those activities, I work wood.

If you buy something and are unsatisfied with the result, I guarantee that I will work with you to adjust the design free of charge. Custom work is non-refundable and once in-progress, custom projects cannot be cancelled. For stock items purchased directly from my portfolio, I offer returns within 30 days of delivery. Shipping for returns is at the customer's expense. If you need an item by a specific date or for a specific event, please let me know in advance of accepting a proposal.
