Great service

This Maker has consistently demonstrated excellence in craftsmanship and customer service.

I've been making stuff for over 20 years; if it can be done with my hands, I have probably tried it at some point, from embroidery, sewing, crochet and piecework to papercrafting, soaping, felting and all aspects of jewelry-making, particularly metalsmithing and beading. I am self-taught in almost everything I do, and try to constantly challenge myself to learn new methods and techniques so that my art will never become stagnant.

In 2010, I began making hand-stamped jewelry, and it was then that my 'hobby' business turned into a full-time job which grew almost faster than I could control. I incorporated in 2012 and now employ over half a dozen assistants in a little workshop/studio in Tujunga, California.

I still work primarily out of my home, though; when I began selling online in 2001 (my first successful handcrafted product was a line of pin-back buttons made from my own designs; to this day, I am still endlessly inspired by the concept and challenge of expressing a viewpoint or belief in a few short words or a single image), my primary motivation was a dislike of 'office' environments and a desire to work independently and on my own schedule, and this is still vitally important to me today.

My corporation is Rose Rose, Inc.; my primary business is Foxwise Jewelry. In addition to my for-profit corporation, I have a 501(c)3 corporation, The Dogs of All; we are an animal welfare and rescue group based in Tujunga, CA, whose purpose is rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing abandoned pets. We focus primarily on dogs, with a secondary focus on turtles and tortoises, but are willing to help any animal in need - as evidenced by our office cat, Artemis, who was part of a feral litter born in our parking lot, and who was SUPPOSED to be adopted out,,,,but then shemanaged to sink her claws into our hearts…

For Shia Muslim Ring

It always pains me to write a bad review, but in this case, it is necessary. My first experience with Custom Made was a flop because of this maker. She contacted about my project at the end of 2014 and was very good about helping shape my vision. She assured me she had been making jewelry for a very long time and I shouldn’t be worried. I wanted an Arabic inscription on the inside and outside of my ring and she helped me decide what I wanted within the realm of a fairly small ring. She was attentive, fairly quick to respond and was a great help. Unfortunately, there was a death in my family and I wasn’t able to ask for a formal proposal until 2015 and sent the first half of my payment on February 1. At this point, she repeatedly claimed the project would be done “at the end of the week” or “in a week.” She asked for addresses of hotels I was staying at while traveling so she could mail them there, but I never received these packages. At first she was having trouble making the engraving work so she tried to teach herself part of the Arabic alphabet and while that’s commendable, I would have much rather her contacted me for a better reference. At one point she was having a lot of trouble with the Arabic so I told her that an English translation engraved would also work but she insisted on making it in Arabic. Again, while this is commendable, it hurt the timeliness of the piece. She was certainly genuine, apologized when she let a deadline pass, however apologies aren’t going to create the ring. I would appreciate the maker building a realistic timeline and not missing EVERY single deadline set between us. Something always came up which was followed up by a too personal and very long excuse message. She has been great at working with me, but at a certain point, I really just want what I paid for. She gave me a 50% discount and offered to make me an extra ring to make up for the delay. When she finally put together a ring, it didn’t have the black ink that I had asked for before but the engraving was deep enough so she’d have to make another. As this had been a couple months after I’d put in my payment, I asked her to go ahead and send me the one without the filling. While the picture looked great, I received it about a week ago and I am extremely upset. It looks like someone just scratch the metal with a pick. The engraving is inconsistent and it seems like some parts of it are already “rubbing off”, the place where she sealed the two ends of the metal together are still extremely visible, and the metal on the side of the ring doesn’t look polished. It took three months from my initial payment to get these to me and I have heard nothing from her since then even though I have sent messages asking about the status of the correct rings. I am extremely disappointed and I would strongly advise any buyer to select another maker, even if they are more expensive.

Shipping Policy

I ship almost anywhere, though if you are an international customer you'll need to check with me before purchasing one of my listings, as there are a few countries I don't ship to, and a few that I charge additional fees for. I try to keep my shipping costs as low as possible; please keep in mind that the fee for shipping also includes handling, which covers everything from the time to package up your order, label it, and get it to the post office, to the materials used to package your item, to a portion of the seller's fees we have to pay on each transaction. We currently use USPS for almost all our shipping, but are hoping to move to another shipping provider soon, as USPS is becoming less and less reliable. Please note that the shipping method I use for most packages does not allow for tracking that is updated in real-time...sometimes the USPS website will show a shipment's progress, but more and more often, nothing is updated until after the package has been delivered. I am responsible for all shipments until they reach your mailbox or doorstep. If an item is marked as delivered but you don't have it, please check with neighbors and check carefully near your door; sometimes carriers will put a package under a bush or somewhere else out of sight -- and of course, sometimes packages are snagged by lowlifes who cruise around neighborhoods looking for just such an opportunity (this, too, has become more of a problem recently). Most of the packages I send are small enough to fit in a mailbox, but if your carrier usually leaves items on your porch and you've ordered something with a high price tag, consider adding signature confirmation to your order, to be sure that you receive it. I cannot, unfortunately, be responsible for missing packages if the tracking shows that they were delivered. Most 'quick purchase' orders will ship in a week or less; custom orders may take two weeks.

Maker Policy

I offer refunds if the item you receive is substantially different than advertised. If you would like to return an item because you've changed your mind, there will be a 15% restocking fee for all non-custom items; I am unable to offer refunds on custom items that are correct and undamaged. In some instances, I \*may\* accept a custom item back (less a 20% restocking fee) if it is one that could appeal to a wide number of people. If you ordered a sterling silver bracelet and asked me to paint it pink and engrave it with "I wuv wittle inchworms", and you approved the photo I sent before I shipped it, you're gonna be stuck with it. ; ) That being said, I've found that when people discuss things honestly and without accusation, an amicable resolution can almost always be reached. I have no interest in making money by creating unhappy customers, so if you are truly disappointed with your purchase, we'll work something out.
