I learned the art of leatherwork through necessity first, doing casual horse gear and saddlery repairs, and began making my own show horse bridles and other horse-related leather goods. I was taught to make my leather gear the right way--strong, durable and dependable--since my own safety (and equally importantly, the safety of my animals) relied on the gear I made. I made my bridles beautiful enough for the show ring because I thoroughly enjoy the process. About then I realized I could make other things, for other people too. Now I love custom work more than construction my own ideas.
