Live-edge and burl boxes show off the wood, laser engraving and monograms make a box personal, and stoneware trinket boxes add a ceramic option.

Inside, listings show drawers lined in velvet or felt, removable trays and adjustable dividers for rings and earrings, necklace bars, side doors for hanging necklaces, and mirrors set into the lid.

What sets the price

A listing's price is usually a starting point. Half of the listings here are priced between about $150 and $740, with a median near $385, and one in ten is priced above $1,500. Size, wood, the number of drawers, inlay or marquetry, and interior fittings set the price of a commission.

• Decide where the box will sit, and measure that space.
• Have names, initials, dates or a design ready for engraving or inlay.
