This was the fourth in a series of fireplace surrounds and screens I made for a particular client. While still using a multilayered approach to creating the moulding for the main body of the border I went with chased and embossed sheet metal inspired by some Middle Eastern work I had seen. The single panel door for the actual fire screen leaves an unobstructed view of the fire while allowing full access and alleviating the need of someplace to set the screen when tending the fire.
