Japanese Hondana (Bookcase)

$4,500

Japanese Hondana (Bookcase) I couldn't wait to get a picture of this unit on my website. I used Black Walnut, Curly Maple and its full of different types of joinery. I had a great time building this piece and I am very happy with how it turned out. The customer wanted a little bit of sapwood to keep it looking natural. The Shoji door kumiko (lattice) pattern was made using Curly Maple and the rice paper is laminated for ease of cleaning and durability. The finish is all hand applied. 3 coats of Danish Oil and 1 coat of Satin Wax will keep this piece looking nice for many years to come. Can be custom ordered in any size, species and finish.
