Shoji Type Storage /Linen Cabinets In Sugar Maple

$1,500

In Japanese architecture, Shoji is a translucent panel on a door or room divider. Traditionally made from rice paper, the panel is supported on one or both sides by a wood lattice pattern called a kumiko. Shoji influenced projects are a house favorite at Modwoodshop. In particular, taking a minimalist contemporary design and adding favorite eastern elements such as shoji or the Chinese inspired brackets shown in the detail photo above. Shoji paper is available in not only traditional paper but also in a more utilitarian, durable, and washable alternative for high traffic/high impact areas like kitchens and bathrooms. The wood pattern over the paper can be customized in an endless number of options ranging from simple horizontal or vertical lines, a grid pattern as shown, or many more complex and unique configurations. As with all Modwoodshop products , custom sizing and a variety of wood species are available ; Cherry, Walnut, Oak, and Maple are all readily available, as are a number of less well known woods upon request.

Since 2005 Modwoodshop has been specializing in the design and construction of top quality handcrafted fine furniture, unique cabinetry solutions, and custom interior woodwork. A diverse range of influences including Danish modern, Japanese architecture, and the works of Charles and Henry Greene converge in a minimalist aesthetic with a nuanced amount of subtle detail and visual appeal. A pared down approach of updating more traditional styles is also of particular interest.
Of equal importance is a dedication to making conscientious choices when selecting and procuring materials; utilizing local resources as well as salvaged and repurposed goods is always encouraged.
The prime focus of Modwoodshop is to infuse our clientele with the satisfaction of excellence in design, choices well made, and expectations not met but exceeded.
