Reclaimed Wood Shelving Unit. Industrial Bookcase. Vintage Style Shelving Unit.

We are excited to offer this piece, which is a beautiful rustic bookcase (or étagère). It is made of reclaimed wood from a salvaged barge that was destroyed as a result of the 2011 tsunami in Japan. The barge was moored off the California Coast (Mission Bay), when the surge of water, after traveling thousands of miles, caused the barge to break loose of its mooring. Luckily, a small amount of wood was salvaged and we are now using it to make some very interesting custom furniture with it. This wood has some of the most beautiful patina we have ever seen, is incredibly varied with rich tones of red, green, turquoise, white, brown and more. Each piece of lumber is unique. The wood on this particular bookcase has been left natural (unsealed, but protected with polyurethane). If you prefer, I can seal the wood, which gives it a darker appearance. The steel has been left "raw" to give it an industrial/rustic feel, but we can make the unit with the steel done in black patina which will give it a more "vintage" feel (paint options also available). The dimensions on this one are 17.5" D x 25.5" W x 72"H. We can make it any size or configuration you would like. For example, we can add cross-braces on the back, eliminate the cross-braces on the sides, make it any number of levels, etc. This unit would also look great with industrial turnbuckles in place of the steel cross-braces you see on the example picture.
