Desk Seat

$400

A black walnut seat a little higher than a dining chair, ideal for occasional use or at a writing desk, high table or low bar counter. Straight lines proportional to its size and scale. In the quest to design a chair with curved legs and flowing lines, I had to design and build the opposite in order to conquer the "designer's block" I was facing. This seat is attractive, functional and stylish to fit in with many different settings.

Opifex Ligni Esse, Latin, to create with wood.
Adam Scudder, a third generation craftsman, was born and raised on a small family farm in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. He went through SUNY Delhi's Cabinetry program in 2008, and after doing cabinetry in NYC for a while went to The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine for an intensive furniture making program. Adam completed the Carpentry program at Delhi in 2010 then spent a year and a half in Huntington on Long Island where he worked in high end cabinet shops. Now Adam works out of his studio furniture shop upstate in Maryland, NY where he will build anything so long as it's wood. Adam enjoys custom work especially because it can require innovative solutions and sometimes nontraditional materials to meet design criteria.
Adam's signature furniture can be described as a blend of Shaker and Arts and Crafts with an Asian influence.
From upstate New York you can enjoy the country life while being within easy reach of New York City and an unlimited demand for creativity.
