Ten percent of the sales price will be donated to Equamore Horse Sanctuary in Ashland, OR, to assist with horse care and rescue. Anything over $1 over the cost of shipping and packaging will be refunded. About This Painting and Kizzyr: Kizzy had multiple owners and was finally surendered in 2011 because she could not be ridden. Her legs are bowed, throwing her weight off which causes her to collapse under the weight of the saddle and rider. Kizzy was also malnourished and in need of serious dental care. She is now fully retired with a herd of three other mares and a gelding friend. She is still quite fearful of being separated from her pasture mates, due to her history of multiple living situations. This painting is titled "Kizzy in Reflection because I flipped the image in Photoshop, at the time, not realizing that her markings would be reversed - so, this is how Kizzy sees herself! About Equamore: Equamore is a non-profit horse rescue and sanctuary in Southern Oregon, approximately 5 miles from the downtown area of Ashland. There are currently 44 rescue horses being cared for at Equamore, along with 6 privately boarded horses. It is a beautiful place with wonderful volunteers, and the need for funds continues to grow due to the economic situation of some horse owners. If you are traveling to Ashland, you should definitely take a tour at Equamore and see all the wonderful horses they have rescued and rehabilitated back to health. I am an oil painter, focused completely on animal paintings - pets and other animals. I paint from photographs (they must be yours/mine/or others without copyright issues) in a realistic style on bold backgrounds, and enjoy capturing the amusing and endearing expressions of the animal. I departed a 20-year corporate career in 2006 to spend time on volunteer activities and art. I am now the proud mom to four former shelter dogs (a side benefit to volunteering at the shelter) and paint from my home studio (a remodeled carriage house in my backyard) and at the Ashland Art Center on Main Street.

Ten percent of my sales are donated to local animal rescue groups and charities where I am a volunteer - Jackson County Animal Shelter, Sanctuary One, and Equamore Horse Sanctuary. I am also a member of HeARTs Speak, the Ashland Gallery Association and The Canine Art Guild.
