Industrial Iron Pipe Storage Shelf
This piece is a customization of an existing product. The design interest here is in re-imagining the connection details rather than relying on the threaded pipe fitting as is usually done. The typical construction method for these popular pieces lacks structural rigidity, vertical continuity and dimensional consistency as a result of the high number of connection points and variability of each individual part. In this design, the flanges and bell couplers are welded at precise location providing a pressed fit over the width of the pine planks. The planks are then bolted over the continuous verticals, clamping them in place and locking the system together. In this way the hardware detail along the edges of the pine planking, once merely an aesthetic embellishment, is now an essential structural element. Shown at 72H x 66w x 18D

I am Southern Illinois based designer and custom builder with 18 years experience in metal fabrications, carpentry and custom installations. My background in both sculpture and architecture have helped in developing the capacity to recognize the spatial implications and conceptual potency of the objects with which we interact daily.
I have a particular interest in objects and installations that produce spatial relationships between users, program shifts and versatility, and help the owner/occupant express themselves through the act of dwelling.
I believe in the intuitions of my clients, and work to maintain an open dialogue and a collaborative spirit. As such, I often work in association with area design/build groups and local craftspeople in order to broaden my capacity to serve my clients' interests.

We needed to replicate some existing handmade desks and tables as part of an office expansion, and our original carpenter was unavailable. Joshua provided CAD mockups based only on the original quote photos and instantly assured us of his skills and comprehension of the needs. He also took the time to send us stain samples to ensure the finish of the new surfaces matched our existing pieces. He shipped the desks disassembled to save us on transit costs, and everything arrived in perfect shape, extra hardware and all. And the pieces are beautiful and built exactly to spec. For Office Desk4.2Great craftsmanship and Josh provided some very useful design ideas at the outset. Desk was super easy to assemble and exactly the quality I was expecting. If the holes for the outlet wires were a bit bigger, it would've been perfect. Would definitely recommend Object A and will likely use them for future projects. The local station of the shipping provider Josh used made a few errors that resulted in a delay in the delivery.

For Joe's Fold up/away dining table4.5The table Josh made turned out great! It is even better than what I had dreamed up.
Had a delay with a piece for the legs but other than that everything ran smoothly.
We picked the table up ourselves in Providence and got a tour of the shop. We were able to get the full story and even see what the wood (salvaged from an old barn) looked like since he still had some in the shop.
Will be needing some legs for another table that I built shortly and will definitely use Josh again.
