About Pantries
Freestanding pantry cabinets and cupboards come in Shaker, country, Southwestern and pewter-style designs, plus industrial pieces in reclaimed wood and steel. There are also butler's pantries, built-in pantry cabinetry with pull-outs, pantries with fold-out doors, spice cabinets and Japanese-style tansu pantries.
What sets the price
A listing's price is usually a starting point. Half of the listings here are priced between about $1,100 and $6,300, with a median near $2,450. Size, wood or paint, the number of doors, drawers and pull-outs, glass or solid doors, and whether the pantry is freestanding or built in all set the price of a commission.
Before you start
- Measure the space: width, height to the ceiling and depth, plus any baseboard, outlets or vents in the way.
- List what you'll store, from cans and jars to small appliances and bulk goods. That sets shelf depth and spacing.
- Choose solid doors, glass doors or open shelving, and the hardware.
- Gather what the pantry should match: photos of your kitchen, the cabinet door style, a paint color or stain.
- For a built-in, ask whether installation is part of the proposal.

You pay a 50% deposit on the one you approve, see the finished pantry by photos, video call or studio visit, and pay the balance once you approve it; Maker Marketplace holds that payment while it ships.

A freestanding pantry cabinet or cupboard moves with you and needs only leveling and, for a tall piece, anchoring to the wall. A built-in pantry uses the full height and width of a space, can include pull-outs and a butler's pantry layout, and is fitted on site. Both are listed here. Describe your space and what you store, and makers can propose either.
Shallow shelves keep cans and jars in a single row where you can see them, and deeper shelves suit small appliances and bulk goods. Tell the maker what you plan to store and the height of the tallest items, and ask for adjustable shelves or pull-outs where the contents will change. Listings here include pantries with adjustable shelves and pull-out shelves on ball-bearing slides.
Send the maker photos of your cabinets, the door style, the paint color or stain, and the hardware, and if you can, a spare door or drawer front to match against. Ask for a finish sample before the build. Stained wood can be harder to match than paint, because wood species and age change the color, so give the maker as much to work from as possible.
