Charming cloche hat in a vintage shabby chic style. A wide brim spring/summer hat made using a traditional millinery technique. The hat is made from a 100% cotton fabric called "buckram" a open weave fabric perfect for warm weather. The buckram is soaked in water until subtle and is then placed over a vintage wooden block where it manipulated into the cloche shape. Once dry the buckram has become stiff and is ready to have the brim and decorations are applied. The hat is made in a cotton candy pink. The brim is edged in a hand sewn soft pink taffeta. I have used this pink taffeta to place a sophisticated pleated band around the crown of the hat. This crown is adorned with tea stained lace floral appliques for a vintage look. The hat is detailed with a over sized handmade abstract flower on the hat's side made of pink taffeta, dusty peach Chantilly and ivory Alencon laces. A beautifully hand detailed hat sure to be a family heirloom. This hat is a medium, but can be made to fit your personal size requirements.

I have always been a maker of things. My first memory of making things was when I was a little girl. I would cut up old sheets while sitting on the living room floor and try to figure out how all the pieces could be fit together to make something. My fascination with fabric has never been far from my mind. I have always had needle and fabric in my hands. I started designing my own cloths in Jr high and never stopped, some 40 years ago. I have always had a love for hats. When I discovered the internet I knew I could now make and sell my hats. I am so excited to have found CustomMade.com a place to share and grow my love of hats.
I offer custom made and ready to wear hats. Hat designs from the 1900's Victorian era past the Roaring 20's flapper days and beyond the World War II Bombshell hats. A hat shop dedicated to the fashions of the past with a connection to the styles of today.
