Shades of Purple, hyacinth and mauve in a wide brim Edwardian/Victorian Kentucky Derby fashion hat made using traditional millinery techniques. The hat has a buckram frame with a overlay in soft light weight printed chiffon. The pleated band and edging are done in hyacinth shimmering silk fabric fabric. The hat is accented with flowers in chiffon and organza in shades of mauve and purple. This hat is completely hand made by me and can be made in a large variety of colors. The wide brim measures is hand sculpted measuring 17" from side to side. This hat will be shipped in a over sized box which does have a shipping surcharge due to the box size. Hat is READY to Ship and will fit most. There is a elastic cord which is to be tucked under the hair and pinned into place. This will hold the hat in place for a very comfortable fit. I created this hat by studying a Victorian Millinery Course book dating back to 1915. The hat is made using these same traditional millinery techniques in which buckram, stretched over a vintage wooden hat block forms the shape of the crown. The crown is then wired for strength and stability. The brim is made in the same buckram fabric and is hand shaped to form the curved design and is also reinforced with a wired edge. This hat can be recreated in a variety of colors. Contact me for instructions for taking your head measurement. I have a turn around time of 5 business days.

I have always been a maker of things. My first memory of making things was when I was a little girl. I would cut up old sheets while sitting on the living room floor and try to figure out how all the pieces could be fit together to make something. My fascination with fabric has never been far from my mind. I have always had needle and fabric in my hands. I started designing my own cloths in Jr high and never stopped, some 40 years ago. I have always had a love for hats. When I discovered the internet I knew I could now make and sell my hats. I am so excited to have found CustomMade.com a place to share and grow my love of hats.
I offer custom made and ready to wear hats. Hat designs from the 1900's Victorian era past the Roaring 20's flapper days and beyond the World War II Bombshell hats. A hat shop dedicated to the fashions of the past with a connection to the styles of today.
