Industrial Walnut Coffee Table Natural Edges Rebar Legs
This is an interesting piece of old growth walnut that shows its age through it's bold coloring, voids, stress marks, and figuring. I thought it was only appropriate to marry this piece to some industrial looking hairpin legs fashioned out of steel rebar. Finished no a zero VOC plant based urethane. Total build dimensions are; 62 3/4" L x 20 5/8" - 21 2/8" W. About 3' up from the bottom, the slab begins to taper at 17" and the tip measures 12" w. It stands 15 1/2" H and is a 1 1/4" thick slab of reclaimed old growth walnut

Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
