This beautiful and artistic coffee table is unlike anything! I put a lot of work into this piece and I'm happy with the results. The top consists of an amazing slab of rich Black Walnut that has two Sapele Mahogany bowties (inlays). The bowties compliment the browns and copper tones found in the top. The bowties were placed along drying checks (natural cracks) to inhibit further checking. The checks were also filled in with a clear resin. This top is held up by an upcycled aluminum drum that's been painted black on one end and a 3-bar steel hairpin leg on the other end. The leg choice is an unusual pairing that matches the tapered shape of the tabletop nicely. The wood has been planed flat, sanded smooth and quenched with numerous coats of a satin based wood varnish. It is easy on the eyes and tough enough to take on daily usage. This piece is ready to ship and will take only 5 minutes to setup once received. Finished build measures: 56" L x 14 3/4" to 27 1/2" W x 17 1/2"H. It's a large coffee table that's packed with organic beauty, artistic expression and love! Ready to ship within 1-2 business days!

Kentucky LiveEdge is operated by craftsman Drew Gahafer. He creates quality live edge furniture and unique applications for home and office.
Drew Gahafer is a self-taught woodworker, artist and furniture designer that got his start by upcycling furniture that was either thrown away, neglected, or purchased for mere pennies at yard sales or consignment shops. Plastics, glass, metals and wood were all materials that he was intrigued on refurbishing and building with. In 2008 he built his family home, which was a narrow shotgun style house. After weeks of housing the traditional square coffee table, he realized the dimensions took up 1/3 of the rooms space. In an effort to create something customized for his home space, he traveled back to his roots and brought back 2 narrow live edge slabs from a sawmill in Eastern Kentucky. By the time his first two pieces were near completion, his family and friends made offers on both pieces. He obliged and returned to the mountains for 5 live edge slabs of wood. Once those 5 were near completion, same story. To this day, his home lacks a coffee table.
