It's always risky when you hire some total stranger online for some custom pieces, since you can't be there to touch and examine the products. Photos can be difficult to gauge the skills of the hands behind the objects of the photos. This small project turns out to be exemplary. The chopping block and knife strip are well made, with attention to details. It's obvious McPherson took a lot of pride in his craft. And most of all, he was responsive in communication, and was able to offer suggestions when we made a drastic change and decided to go for an end grain chopping block and stripped pattern knife strip. With some exchanges of phone calls, texts, and photos, the products were made, and a couple of days later turned up at my porch, well packed and out to be beyond my expectation. Overall, this has been a very positive experience. The worst part: I may end up ordering some more pieces.... oops.

Love our custom made hall table ?. Never ordered from CustomMade or Doug before, so we were skeptical. We specified the width and color. He communicated with messages and pictures on the progress of the table. It is so beautiful! And Doug had the table hand delivered to us in N J.

This was my first custom project. I interviewed by email 6 different wood furniture makers. It was immediately apparent to me that Doug was my choice. His communication and follow-up (we used text & email) was first-rate. He sent me progress photos all along the way. I gave 4 stars on value as that is subjective. I LOVE my new zebrawood and walnut entry console table. I would use Doug again, and would recommend people interview him and talk about their project.

The project came in on time, and exceeded expectations. I’m sitting at the bar next to my wife as I review the stool underneath me. Fantastic. Deborah’s chair is two inches taller than mine and she sits comfortably at the bar and I can look into her beautiful eyes. Something an off the shelf bar stool would not allow. I’m a big boy and Doug went out of his way to reinforce the joints, the support for the leather and they are strong, beautiful and comfortable. We will be commissioning more projects in the future. Did I mention the packing? Bullet proof. Got here well labeled and safe. First class all the way. I would recommend Doug without reservation.
