This is a pastel on custom-prepared masonite board. Mother and daughter were frequent visitors to my studio so I wanted to capture something of their relationship and beauty. I am always looking for the individual gesture and expressive spirit of the person. This maple-framed pastel is approximately 20" x 30."

I am an artist who creates custom paintings and drawings. My real joy is painting portraits of people of any age. I aim to create a likeness but even more important is to discover the spark, personality, expression, and spirit of the viewer. I work in oil, watercolor, pastel, graphite or charcoal. My style would be called expressive.
I have been painting and teaching 2D arts in college, museum, and community settings for over 18 years. I have been showing and selling my art in galleries, museums, and community settings nationally and internationally for 30 years.
I pride myself at being a good listener and will work with you to achieve the results you are imagining. Ideally I would start out working from life with sketches and photographs and then complete the work in my studio. I also can work from your photographs if there is a special image you have in mind. There is nothing like owning an original portrait of a loved one. Please inquire.
